How Much Is Admission to the New York State Fair?
The New York State Fair is an enjoyable event that caters to everyone. Plus, it’s the perfect chance to spend quality time with family and friends!
Admission costs differ based on when you visit. Purchasing tickets ahead of time usually offers lower prices.
Admission
If you are planning to attend the fair this year, you will need to know how much admission costs. Tickets can be purchased either online or at the gate.
The fair offers various discounted admission days, such as $3 Thursdays and $1 entry on Labor Day. Furthermore, students, seniors, and military personnel can receive discounted tickets on certain days.
In addition to these discounts, the Fair offers free admission for children 12 and under. It’s an ideal way to bring your family out for some fun at the fair!
Another helpful tip is to bring your own food for the daily Food Drives at the Fair. These events collect donations for Elk Grove Food Bank and require that you bring three non-perishable, non-expired items to the gates before 3 p.m.
Finally, you can save money by buying admission and ride wristbands online in advance of the fair. Typically, these are available at half the cost of what you would pay at the gate and come with a complimentary ride wristband.
By purchasing your tickets in advance, you can avoid long waits and make entry easier. Furthermore, it will save you from paying for parking at the gate.
For further instructions on purchasing your tickets, visit the fair website. You’ll even receive an email reminder when it’s time to buy!
Save even more by purchasing a mega pass. For only $75, this pass offers 18 days of admission and unlimited rides!
If you have a large group coming to the fair with you, consider purchasing a group admission package that includes special pricing tickets for each member of your party. Prices for these are often cheaper than individual prices for each person; however, it’s wise to inquire before purchasing any large tickets.
At the fair, you can often find discounted tickets to many shows if you’re a fan of an artist. For instance, bring your ticket to see Brad Paisley perform at St. Joseph’s Health Amphitheater at Lakeview for free when attending the fair!

At the fair, there’s plenty of fried food to choose from – from deep-fried Oreos and piggy tails to bacon mac-n-cheese tacos. But if you’re watching your calorie intake or trying to stay healthy, some of this fare could actually be quite nutritious for you.
Nutritionist Alice Ammerman from UNC Chapel Hill believes fried food is not always as unhealthy as people think, especially when it comes to lightly battered vegetables or meats. In fact, she noted there are plenty of healthier options at the state fair than some of the typical fried treats you’ll find there.
Ammerman suggests looking for healthier options than the typical fair fare by searching out locally managed stands. She advises finding places without a long wait and that take the time to explain their ingredients. Furthermore, vendors should note any dietary restrictions you have so they can ensure your food doesn’t contain any allergens.
Other healthy fair food options include grilled corn on the cob and boiled peanuts – both classic fair staples that have been around for centuries.
For a healthier take on these classic fair snacks, Tommy C’s Corn on the Cob and Stix and Things Grilled Chicken Tacos are two options to try. Both items can be found at most fairs and made for quick on-the-go munching.
If you’re in search of something other than fries, take a look at the food trucks at the fair. They provide an ideal opportunity to sample new cuisine without spending money on an entire meal.
On Wednesdays at the fair, you can save money on admission by bringing canned goods that will be donated to North Texas Food Bank – helping feed members of your community. Bring up to five canned foods and receive a discounted ticket good for one day at the fair.
